Veterans face much higher rates of hearing loss due to noise exposure during military service. Hearing loss and tinnitus are among the most common service-connected disabilities, with over 1.5 million veterans compensated for hearing loss and more than 3 million for tinnitus. Tinnitus is the number one service-connected disability, and veterans are about 30% more likely to have severe hearing impairment than non-veterans.
